Based on a geographic area of the city, the Toronto and East York Community Council’s responsibilities include making recommendations and decisions on local planning and development, as well as neighbourhood matters including traffic plans and parking regulations. Community Council reports to City Council but they also have final decision-making power on certain items, such as fence by-law exemptions and appointments to local boards and Business Improvement Areas.
Current members of the Toronto and East York Community Council are:
- Ana Bailao
- Brad Bradford
- Paula Fletcher
- Gord Perks (Chair)
- Mike Layton
- Joe Cressy
- Josh Matlow
- Kristyn Wong-Tam
Community Council provides an opportunity for residents and stakeholder groups to speak (or ‘depute’) to elected officials.
Normally, all meetings are held at City Hall in Committee Room 1. However, since the pandemic all meetings have been held completely virtually. Anyone can watch the live stream on City Council’s YouTube channel at this link.
If you would like to speak to a specific item, please view this page or call the Clerk’s office directly at 416-392-7033.
